What Is Cloudflare And How It Improves Your Funnel’s Speed And Security

You’ve got your login details… you’re pumped up to begin with SalesProcess but at the sound of these three letters – D N S – you find yourself stumped.

No fear!

This blog post will explain to you in a straightforward way how this works so you can get all your domains integrated seamlessly together with SalesProcess.

Big Picture of The Lingo

To get things started, you first need to understand what DNS is.

A DNS server is a computer server that contains a database of public IP addresses and their associated hostnames, and in most cases serves to resolve, or translate, those names to IP addresses as requested. DNS servers run special software and communicate with each other using special protocols.

If that didn’t even sound like English to you…

Here’s the simplified version of it.

DNS stands for Domain Name System. Since most web addresses are just a string of numbers, a domain helps translate a nice and simple address (like salesprocessawesome.com) into the actual address… which is basically [put in 8 million numbers here].

When you get your own domain, you might buy it from a place like NameCheap or GoDaddy, etc. Think of this as like buying an address plaque with your home address on it. You don’t own the land or the house just yet, but the nameplate to it.

If you are building funnels with us through SalesProcess, you’re paying for the “land” with the software service subscription fee.

So, now that we’ve got our land and you already have your address plaque… all you need now is a house.

That is where SalesProcess comes in. The house will be the funnel/website you build through the funnel builder.

By now, you can see how the three pieces would work together:

  • Web Address
  • Hosting
  • Site/Funnel Pages

From this analogy, you can see that DNS is the tool that manages your address. When you buy your domain at a place like GoDaddy, they give you a free DNS system to manage your address, but most of them lack reliability and more importantly, speed.

That is when Cloudflare enters.

Cloudflare has a much faster and more reliable DNS system than most of the places you would get your domain from…

…. ESPECIALLY if you are using a platform like SalesProcess, Cloudflare is your best bet to manage the DNS settings of your domain.

Obviously, you can see who is the clear winner.

In order to get this setup, you need to learn another quick piece of lingo…

NAMESERVERS.

Officially, nameservers are defined as the servers that make up DNS. They hold the records of multiple DNS types and translate a URL into an IP address.

This means that if you buy a domain at GoDaddy, by default, the assignment of that domain, the management of it, is happening at GoDaddy.

If you log into your GoDaddy account and change the nameservers, you are able to manage your domain anywhere you want.

It does not mean you transferred your domain, it just simply means you are managing it from somewhere else.

By adding a domain to Cloudflare and changing the nameservers to Cloudflare’s servers, it’s effectively leveling up your speed, accuracy, and safety.

With Cloudflare, all your settings will be kept the same so you will not have to worry about that.

Once you’ve changed the nameservers, you can now use the faster and more reliable DNS system to make changes to your domain.

Lastly…

We encourage our users to switch to Cloudflare for any domains you plan to use on your funnels -- whether through SalesProcess or a third-party website because this is one small tweak that will make your funnel more reliable and faster!
